There we go…

(...Phew. Organizing the bookshelves is far more physically toiling than I expected it would be.)

(There was worry about the older books growing moldy, thanks to all the rain and moisture in the air around this time of year. That’s why I’ve got to move the most important books to the underground archive and make sure they’re adequately preserved.)

(But once I carry all those books down to the archive, I’ll need something to fill the empty spaces in the bookshelves.)

(I planned to switch them out with some of the books that have been hidden away in the archive until now. But maybe in order to drum up interest in those books, I should put up some sort of recommendation corner?)

(...Yes, that’s what I’ll do. I want those books to be read by loads of people—so as a member of the library committee, I’ve got to do what I can to make that happen.)

(After that, I’ll carry the books that need to be stored down to the archive and switch them out with what’s down there.)

Time passes.

I’ve finished switching out most of the books by now. All that’s left for today is reorganizing these bookshelves, then maybe I should leave it at that…

Ritsu:

Mm, sounds good to me...

Hajime:

Eek?! ...Ritsu onii-chan!

Ritsu:

Haa~kun, ‘sup~♪

Hajime:

You scared me! I almost dropped this book I was holding… Do you need something from the library?

Ritsu:

Nah. All I need is you. What do you say to holding Tea Club activities once in a while?

Hajime:

Oh! Did you come all the way over here just to get me? Sorry, I’ll finish tidying up right away and get ready!

Ritsu:

Don't worry about it. In fact—as the President of the Tea Club—I hereby declare that today's activities shall be cancelled~♪

Hajime:

What, how come?

Ritsu:

For one, you’re hard at work, Haa~kun. The only reason I decided to have club activities today is ‘cause I’m here after school anyway.

Hajime:

But…

Ritsu:

I’m telling you, it’s fine. Besides, now that I think about it, you never know when it might start pouring rain this time of year, right? It’d be hard to hold a tea party out on the Garden Terrace.

Hajime:

Oh, you’re right. Today’s been cloudy since morning, hasn’t it? According to the forecast, it’s going to start raining around evening time.

Ritsu:

Right. See, so cancelling today’s activities was the right choice to make.

Maa-kun’s been telling me I need to at least try to do something to make it seem like I’m putting effort into the Tea Club.

But I’ll wait until a bright and sunny day comes along—one that’s perfect for leisurely sipping tea outside! Then we can finally hold Tea Club activities. ♪

But as for today’s activities, I’m just gonna stay here and snuggle up next to you while you're doing your best at work, Haa-kun.

Hajime:

Haha. With you by my side, finishing off the task at hand will be a cinch, Ritsu onii-chan!  ♪

Ritsu:

But you weren’t a member of a Library Committee last year, Haa-kun. Why’d you decide to join this year?

Hajime:

Hmm. It’s because I do love reading and the library’s been a huge support for me over the past year...perhaps?

Through reading books here, I’ve been able to experience so many wonderful stories.

In the past, I’ve been allowed to use the archive to practice my dancing, and I have loads of memories of spending time here with my seniors and the others.

So this is my way of repaying all the favors that the library has done for me; I have this sense of wanting to protect it. When we were deciding each of the committee members for the year, I decided to raise my hand.

It seems as though there’s talk of the student council taking over library-related duties at some point this year. But the reason it’s managed to last this long is because there are some roles that only members of the library committee can fulfill.

Ritsu:

...Haa-kun, you sound kinda like Aoba onii-chan. That’s exactly how he goes about his library duties.

Hajime:

Really? It was a bit of a dream of mine to become a member of the library committee as capable as Aoba-senpai, so I’m thrilled to hear that.

He often lets me confide in him, you know. Both he and my roommate, Hasumi-senpai, are always giving me advice.

There's a bunch of things like budgets that I still don't understand, but Tori-kun from the student council is also patiently teaching me about everything he knows.

Since everyone’s lending me a hand, I’ve got to be the best member of the library committee that I can be.

Ritsu:

You look like you’re raring to go, Haa-kun. You really like this kind of work, huh.

Hajime:

I do! ♪

But I was so happy to get the chance to chat with someone that I ended up rambling a little too much.

You tend to spend a lot of time by yourself when you’re at the library, so I kind of got carried away. But this is really the kind of place where you’re supposed to pass the time quietly.

Ritsu:

It’s just the two of us right now, though, so I don’t think you need to worry about it. I’m glad I got to hear you share your thoughts, Haa-kun.

Hahaha. If you’re gonna be here, then it looks like the library’s gonna be a peaceful place for me to nap this year too.

Hajime:

Oh! You shouldn’t lie down on the floor like that, Ritsu onii-chan! You’ll end up hurting all over.

Ritsu:

But the floor is the closest possible place to you, Haa-kun. I’m gonna lay down here and watch over you while you work.

Hajime:

Wahh? I’m flattered, but I’m still worried about your body aching afterward.

Since we’re both surrounded by books, why don’t you read one? Think about it—once you get captivated by the story, you'll be too engrossed to even notice your sleepiness.

Ritsu:

Once I lie down, I don’t plan to get back up again. Besides, instead of reading something by myself, I’d rather have you read it to me, Haa-kun.

...Huh? What’s that sound?

Hajime:

It must be the rain...

Oh, it’s really starting to pour.

Ritsu:

Yeah, it sounds like a gentle melody. It’s the perfect background noise for how sweet and pretty your voice is, Haa-kun.

Hajime:

Come on~While I do like it when you make a fuss over me, please promise me that you'll wake up properly when it's time to go home, okay?

... It’s rough going, huh? Being the leader of a unit. I mean, I’m Ra*bits’ leader right now, so I kind of get how you feel.

Though I guess Knights have a whole bunch of newcomers to deal with, so it’s rough going in a different way than a Nii~chan-less Ra*bits.

When you’re the leader, there are some things you’re not always able to talk about with your unitmates. I don’t mind listening, so feel free to reach out to me if you need someone to lend an ear.

Heheh, that’s very considerate of you. It is indeed as you say: I’ve been entrusted with becoming the new Leader—the new King of Knights.

That said, the King of Knights is moreso an honorary title.

Furthermore, a rule has been established that the crown is to be entrusted to Leo-san—the previous King—while within ES. It’s a rather comfortable position for me.

I'm not so stuck that I feel the need to vent to somebody, really. It’s just that, when you’re the leader, it feels like you have to constantly be switched on.

Mmm, I dunno if that’s something to be jealous of though? I do get dogs and cats following me around a lot, and once I start paying attention to them, they want me to keep playing with them forever.

But anyway. So you like animals too, huh?

We didn’t get that many chances to hang out while we were first years, so it’d be nice if the two of us could bond more from here on.

You may claim that you're in a pretty comfortable position even after becoming leader and all that, but you still came up here to the Sky Garden the same as I did. You were weary enough to want to come up here for a breather.

We’re both in the same position, so there’s bound to be topics we can sympathize with one another about, even if it’s just our mutual exhaustion.

We just happened to bump into one another today by chance. But the next time we’re both free, we should meet up like this to talk about how things are going and whatever stuff we’re into at the moment.

Adonis 4* - The Rhythm Link Arm Wrestling Cup

Season: Summer

Writer:

Location: Rhythm Link Office

Keito:

... You took your time, Sakuma. You’re late.

Rei:

I see you're as frightfully impatient as ever, Hasumi-kun. I “took my time” since I had plenty of it to take. Have I not arrived slightly ahead of schedule?

Keito:

Well, the sooner we get this over with, the better. I see you’ve got Otogari with you. Have you already briefed him about the situation?

Rei:

Yes, he is aware. Isn’t that right, Adonis-kun?

Adonis:

Yeah. There’s an unwritten understanding here at Rhythm Link that the newest idols to join the agency should take care of cleaning the office, but the reality is that Ra*bits have been taking on the majority of the work by themselves.

And so, in order to decide which of us should be assigned cleaning duty as fairly as possible, we’ve all gathered here to participate in an arm wrestling contest... That’s what I’ve heard.

But why arm wrestling? Shouldn’t there be plenty of other ways of deciding?

Rei:

Well, I'm afraid we aren't quite clear on the specifics ourselves.

Keito:

Both Sakuma and I were on the verge of passing out from exhaustion at the time the decision was being made. Before we’d even realized what was going on, everyone had already gotten carried away with the idea of an arm wrestling contest.

Adonis:

I see... I know that both of you are very busy, but please take care of your health.

Your body will grow weak without adequate food and rest. You need protein to grow strong make sure you’re eating enough meat!

Rei:

Hmm... In that case, shall we host a barbecue in the hanging garden?

Keito:

Forget it. The garden may be part of ES, but it’s still a public space.

Tomoya:

Oh no, looks like everyone’s already here... Sorry we’re late!

Hajime:

We’re going to be arm wrestling today then? I’m looking forward to it!

Rei:

So you two are here on behalf of Ra*bits, is that correct?

Hajime:

Yes! Nii-chan’s got work today and unfortunately he couldn’t get away, so the two of us came in his place!

Keito:

Got it. Well, now that we’re all here, let’s begin.

First, I’ll go over the rules. You should’ve already received a notification about this over WholeHands, but I’d rather clarify any misunderstandings ahead of time.

Akatsuki, UNDEAD, and Ra*bits will each nominate one member to take part in an arm-wrestling contest, round-robin style. The loser will take care of cleaning the entire office from then on.

I’ll be representing Akatsuki. How about UNDEAD?

Rei:

Who else but Adonis-kun? If it’s a competition you seek, it’s only fitting that we throw down the gauntlet as well.

But are you certain you’re the man for this [sort of] job, Hasumi-kun? Would Kiryuu-kun or Kanzaki-kun not be a more appropriate choice?

Keito:

Maybe if it was a contest of brute strength alone. But the outcome of this match has cleaning duty for the entire office riding on it, so I came to the decision that I should be the one doing it as the leader of Akatsuki.

Rei:

[Goodness] You really are terribly serious...

Tomoya-kun, will you be representing Ra*bits?

Tomoya:

Nah, I’m just here for moral support.

Hajime:

I’ll be the one arm-wrestling! The first round is Ra*bits versus Akatsuki, right? Let's have a good fight, Hasumi-senpai!

T/L Note: In the JP version, Hajime actually says UNDEAD instead of Akatsuki, which seems to have been a mistake, as Keito is not a member of UNDEAD. It’s been changed here for clarity!

Keito:

Alright then. May the best man winthree, two, one... Go!

Hajime:

… There!

Keito:

I... I lost?

Rei:

My, that certainly ended quickly; I hardly had time to blink! Did you let your guard down, Hasumi-kun?

Keito:

No, far from it! My guard was up high as ever, and yet...

Tomoya:

Ahaha. This guy may look like a softie, but he’s way stronger than you’d expect.

Adonis:

So the next round will be Akatsuki versus UNDEAD? Are you ready, Hasumi-senpai?

Keito:

... Yeah. No matter how long I spend thinking about it, a loss is still a loss.

But the contest isn’t over yet. I’ll accept this loss and redeem myself during this next round!

Adonis:

That’s the spirit. Then let’s... go!

Ungh!

Rei:

And it’s an overwhelming victory to Adonis-kun! What a spectacle that was!

Keito:

Urgh... I didn’t expect it to end that fast...

Rei:

Hasumi-kun, seeing as you’ve already lost twice in a row, I believe we’ve determined who shall be responsible for cleaning the office.

Hajime:

I guess. But...

Otogari-senpai, while we’re both here, it wouldn’t be too much trouble for you to have a match against me, would it?

Adonis:

That’s fine by me. But I’m a little concerned that I might injure your hand.

Don’t worry about it! I’m pretty tough! Alright, please give it your all, okay?

I’m a little upset, but... Thank you for not holding back; I really appreciate it. And thank you for agreeing to wrestle with me! I’m super grateful.

Adonis:

And I to you. There’s something very admirable about the way you challenged me without so much as a hint of fear. Come take me on again sometime.

Hajime:

I’d love to!

Rei:

I feel as though I’ve stepped right into a sports drama... Anyhow, since Hasumi-kun will be taking over cleaning duty from now on, I believe it’s time for the rest of us to take our leave?

Adonis:

... No, we should help too. This office is far too big for just one person.

Hajime:

I agree. If we all work together, we’ll get this office ten times as clean. What do you say, Tomoya-kun?

Tomoya:

Sure, I’ll join you guys. I owe a lot to everyone working here after all.

Adonis:

Thank you both. If the five of us pitch in, we should finish up in no time.

Rei:

The five of us... I see you’ve taken it upon yourself to casually include me as well, Adonis-kun?

Adonis:

? Don’t you wish to join us, Sakuma-senpai?

Rei:

Mmm. Can’t say I do, but alright, I suppose I shall. I expect nothing but gratitude from you, Hasumi-kun.

(30 minutes later)

Kaoru:

Hey there!

Whoa, you guys cleaning the whole office?

I thought we agreed that just one of the unit reps was gonna take care of it?

Rei:

That was also my understanding. And yet, despite a clear loser emerging during our arm wrestling contest, for some baffling reason, all five of us present at the time ended up cleaning together.

Koga:

Did ya say arm wrestlin’? Sounds sweet! I should’ve been involved; I’d take all of ya down!

Adonis:

Pfft. I thought you’d say that, Oogami. We should definitely hold a second round in future.

Not just with whoever’s been elected representative, but with everyone from each unit. It would be nice to spend some quality time with one another, and we’d get this office spotless.

Kaoru:

Sounds like killing two birds with one stone! But I’m afraid it’s gotta be a pass from me. I really don’t feel like I stand a chance against you, Adonis-kun.

Adonis:

Then train, to make yourself stronger. Eat more meat and build muscle.

Kaoru:

Yeah, hard pass. That sounds like way too much effort for some arm wrestling contest.

Oh, don’t be like that! Neither of us know this area too well, so wouldn't it be more productive to check it out together?

Izumi:

Yeah, yeah. You really know how to work a conversation to your advantage, don’t you, Nazunyan? Always know just what to say...

I can see you now, having the time of your life at college and charming everyone with those winning conversation skills of yours. You better not be using your status as an idol to have everyone fuss all over you.

Nazuna:

Nah, no way. Momo-chin might be like that, but I don’t really like the idea of people making a big deal outta me... I’m there to study. I’m just an ordinary college student. You get me?

Izumi:

Hahaha. Considering you were the tennis clubs’ golden boy, who knows what you’re like in college, Nazunyan?

How is it, actually? Being a college student by day and idol on the side?

Nazuna:

Ahaha. You don’t have to worry about me, Izumi-chin. Any ideas I had about turning on the charm to get what I want went out the window the moment I put my nose to the grind and started to take my studies seriously.

Or rather, if I wanted everyone making a huge fuss outta me, then I would’ve just decided to continue on as an idol.

But I put all that aside in order to go to college. You of all people should understand, Izumi-chin. You made the jump all the way overseas to chase after your dream.

Izumi:

I guess... It’s not like I don’t understand where you’re coming from, Nazunyan.

I may be living abroad right now, but that doesn’t change my relationships with all our old classmates much. And I’m still a member of Knights—nothing will ever change that.

Granted, I’m slowly but surely making my way toward my new stage. But the bonds I made with my classmates, with Knights--they’re still always with me.

Hey. Our little gossip-session went on way too long. Why don’t we go get our shopping over with first, and have our chat later?

I feel like a million and one different things are gonna come up. So let’s head over to a cafe or something after we’ve gotten everything we need.

Nazuna:

Sure. This is bringing back so many memories, I can’t help it! I wanna talk about this and that!

But you’re right, Izumi-chin. There’s no need to rush; we’ve got plenty of time ahead of us!

Izumi 3* - From the Flower Capital

Izumi:

(Hmm…I may have overestimated how long it would take to reach town from my place. It’s so early that the streets are practically empty. Looks like I’m going to arrive way ahead of schedule.)

Izumi:

(Oh well. I can easily kill time by messing around on my phone for a bit.)

Izumi:

(Arranging to meet up with someone in Florence, and in town on top of that, is a first for me. I’m really not used to it…)

Izumi:

(Though I definitely appreciate arranging things beforehand like this. It’s a real 180° from Leo-kun showing up on my doorstepcompletely unannounced and parading around like he owns the place.)

Izumi:

(...Hm? Did someone call out to me just now? ...Ah, it’s one of the waiters at that cafe I visit a lot.)

Izumi:

Ciao!

Izumi:

(I do like the view from the terrace. But it looks like it’s still packed with tourists, so I’ll drop by a little later instead.)

Izumi:

(Let’s see, should be just around the corner hereoh?)

Izumi:

Itsuki, you’re early. Mademoiselle not with you today?

Shuu:

Yes, she is acting as custodian to our Parisian abode during my absence. I simply couldn’t ask her to accompany me to such an unfamiliar land, lest I lose sight of her. Perish the thought!

Shuu:

Pardon myrather sudden - insistence that you chaperone my Florencian excursion, but I truly do appreciate how you’ve so kindly agreed to show me around.

Shuu:

There is something that I simply must procure here in Florencebut I’m afraid I haven’t the slightest clue where this craftsman’s atelier might be, let alone how to get there.

Izumi:

You’re welcome. Luckily for you the forecast is good today.

Izumi:

You seriously owe me one, ya hear? It was a real pain trying to find the place you’re looking for.

Izumi:

Even the locals raised their eyebrows when I inquired about it. ‘Someone’s done their research’, like it was some big deal I’d even heard of it.

Shuu:

Is that so? I suppose it’s rather unsurprising, considering the craftsman goes by the name “The Hidden Master”, and yet

Shuu:

it’s a truly tragic state of affairs when an artisan capable of producing such magnificent works of art can’t even catch the attention of the locals.

Izumi:

That’s all there is around here thoughyou can find just about every kind of artist under the sun. You’ve gotta really be something to get noticed around here; otherwise you’ll just get lost among the crowd.

Shuu:

And yet, here you are, you and that “Hidden Master” both, determined to stand out among that very sea of artistes. Alas, I cannot say I do not understand, having experienced something similar myself back in Paris.

Shuu:

I believe you wished to make a name for yourself as a model, if I am not mistaken? Pray tell, how have things been going since then?

Izumi:

Mmm, well...

Izumi:

I guess the biggest thing that’s happened is Leo-kun crashing back into my life. That idiot needs, like, constant supervision.

Izumi:

Someone’s gotta be around to make sure he doesn’t go off chasing whatever job piques his fancy without so much as a second thought. I’m making sure he stays here with me, as far away from Japan as possible, after all that’s happened.

Shuu:

Oho. So you two are living together? I hadn’t realized you were betrothed as such.

Izumi:

We are NOT. We just happen to live under the same roof. Although it’s honestly more like disciplining a pet than having a roommate...

Izumi:

The second I take my eyes off that guy, he makes a break for Japan, or goes gallivanting off to whatever random country’s caught his eyeyou have no idea how stressful it is.

Izumi:

That said...I have got Leo-kun to thank for a couple of work-related things. I suppose we’re mutually beneficial to each other.

Izumi:

Work’s going fairly well. I’ve realized I don’t HAVE to become a global sensation overnight, and I’m not putting as much pressure on myself to do so.

Izumi:

I know where I stand. And I won’t be afraid to take advantage of whatever I can to advance my career, whether it’s through Leo-kun’s connections or whatever else comes my way.

Shuu:

Hoho.

Izumi:

Why are you looking at me like some kind of proud parent?

Izumi:

Whatever. What about you, Itsuki? I was gracious enough to get you up to speed with my life, so now it’s your turn to speak up.

Itsuki:

Me? In fact, I myself have recently become a member of a Parisian salon for artists.

Izumi:

A salon? That’s like, the circles they have over at ES, right?

Shuu:

Indeed, your general understanding would be correct, yes. It’s a collective--a société if you will--joined by a great love of art to allow correspondence with like-minded individuals.

Shuu:

In fact, the reason I find myself here in Florence is mainly by virtue of an invitation extended to me by members of that very salon. I shall have the pleasure of attending both an exhibit and afterparty hosted by my fellow artists.

Izumi:

Oh? It’s not like you to hang out with other people of your own free will. I wonder what brought on this change of heart, hm?

Shuu:

I myself have not changed in the slightest. Rather, I’ve simply never had any interest in mingling with others just for the sake of it.

Shuu:

However, intermingling with those who possess an equally sophisticated and deep artistic sensibility as myself? Now that, my friend, is worthwhile. The inspiration to create true masterpieces abounds when one is surrounded by those on a similar path.

Shuu:

Not that I intend to critique how you go about your own business. Still, if you ask me, when one lives overseas, one must endeavor to immerse oneself in the local community.

Shuu:

I shan’t blame you should you wish to take a leaf from my book, guhahaha!

Izumi:

Ugh, you’re sooo annoying. That’s real rich coming from someone with barely any friends.

Izumi:

Whatever, I happen to be doing just fine as I am right now. I’m surrounded by competition, so my first priority is looking out for number one.

Izumi:

Even if I had the time to make some ‘friends’, I’d rather use it to polish myself as a model - that sounds a lot more worthwhile to me.

Izumi:

Though I suppose if I happened to run into some like-minded people, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to keep in contact...

Izumi:

Immerse oneself in the local community, huh… Never mind your salon, I should really start taking advantage of living in Europe.

Izumi:

I get the feeling it’d be a waste to limit myself to Florence.

Izumi:

I want to visit places I’ve never been before, experience new cultures...If anything, that’s gonna be what helps me grow as a person.

Izumi:

My first destination would be Paris, of course. Since I’m so graciously playing chaperone for you today, you better offer me a place to stay when I visit Paris. Since we’re friends and all.

Shuu:

But of course! There just happens to be a museum in Paris chronicling the history and culture of fashion.

Shuu:

I daresay it should be particularly beneficial to you as a model. Do let me know when you plan to visit Paris - I shall accompany you there myself.

Izumi:

Thanks. I’ll definitely take you up on your word.

Izumi:

(My first trip to Paris may just be to sight-see, but I’d love to stand on a runway in Paris someday.)

Izumi:

(No, I’ll definitely make it happen. I’ll take everything I’ve learned, including the mistakes I’ve made, and push myself as far as I can possibly go.)

Izumi:

(Just like a chrysalis becomes a butterfly, I, Sena Izumi, am ready to spread my wings and soar straight for the sun!)

Nazuna:

Barely half a year’s past, but this feels kinda nostalgic. Anzu, Momo-chin! Tell me, is everyone doing well?

Tori:

Duh. Right, Anzu?

But there’s no need to ask us; you already know, don’t you? Like, you still get to see everyone at the dorms or at ES.

Nazuna:

I know, I know. But I wanna see how everyone’s getting on at school too. How you act at school’s a different side to you, right?

Anyhow, I’m just glad to see that there’s no major drama going on back here. Highschool doesn’t last forever, y’know. All you gotta do is blink and it’ll be over before you know it.

I want you guys to create all the great memories you can make while you still can.

Tori:

Shouldn’t you save that kind of talk for the lecture you’re gonna give today? Look, Anzu agrees with me!

Nazuna:

Ahaha, I guess you’re right!

Location: Student council room

I never thought I’d be the one giving a lecture to the students here. I was pretty surprised when you guys reached out to me.

Tori:

You’re the perfect example of someone who’s balancing idol work while studying at college, Nito-senpai. The new president was super relieved that you agreed to it. He was all, thank goodness he said yes!

Nazuna:

The new president? Ah, you mean Mao-chin, right?

Speaking of which, why’re you the one coming to meet me, Momo-chin? You don’t really strike me as the errand boy type.

Tori:

The new president’s busy with something else, y’see. And alumni or not, you’re still a guest here, so he wanted to make sure you were treated with the right kind of hospitality. And I was the one chosen to escort you!

I am the vice-president after all, heheh!

But I didn’t hear anything about Anzu, so seeing you here was a shock for me too! Ever since you moved to the producer division, I barely see you around in school anymore.

Did the president ask you to come too, Anzu? …No, that’s not it?

Nazuna:

Oh? You’re gonna make my personalized outfit? Now that’s something to look forward to!

I’ll leave the design and everything completely up to you. I just know you’ll be able to come up with something that fits me to a T!

What’s that? A theme would help you narrow down your ideas? Hmm…

That makes sense… Momo-chin, she’s already made your personalized outfit for you, right? How’d you come up with your idea?

Tori:

Me? My theme was based around my “inspiration”, the person I look up to! I asked Anzu to make me something like Eichi-sama would wear.

At first it was a little too much like Eichi-sama, and not enough of me. But after tweaking it around, it turned into a one-of-a-kind, Tori-exclusive outfit!

It was a big hit with my fans too! Cool and cute at the same time!

Nazuna:

Hmm. Your inspiration, huh… I guess my inspiration would be…

Mitsuru:

Nii-chan!

Nazuna:

Unyaa?!

Tomoya:

Mitsuru, come on! I literally just told you not to slam the door open like that!

Nazuna:

What are you guys doing here?

Tomoya:

The truth is, we caught sight of you coming in here and decided to come say hello.

Hajime:

We’re really sorry, Nii-chan! I promise we really did mean to knock on the door properly first…

Mitsuru:

I just couldn’t hold back, so I dashed right over here! I wanted to see ya as fast as I could, Nii-chan!

Nazuna:

Haha… You guys are really something. Don’t we already see each other basically every day?

But thanks for coming to say hi. You’ve already made my day!

Hajime:

Nii-chan~

Mitsuru:

Me and Tomo-chan and Hajime-chan have been lookin’ forward to your lecture since forever!

I normally sleep through lectures, but I’m gonna stay awake this time for sure!

Nazuna:

I’ll hold you to that! Now that you’ve made that promise, I’ll be watching you extra carefully from the podium.

Tomoya:

Giving a speech in front of a big crowd sounds nerve-wracking! Best of luck, Nii-chan!

Nazuna:

Leave it to me!

Tori:

Come on, this isn’t the time for you to just stand around chatting! It’s almost time to head over to the auditorium. That goes for you three too!

Hajime:

Goodness, you’re right.

In that case, we should really head on over.

Mitsuru:

Bye bye, Nii-chan! Let’s DASH on over to the auditorium! First one there wins!

Tomoya:

Hey, Mitsuru! Quit running in the halls!

Nazuna:

Haha. Looks like they haven’t changed a bit when it comes to how they act at school… Hey Anzu, are you heading over too?

You wanna give me some time to take care of anything I have to do beforehand? Thanks for thinking of me.

I’ll get back to you about my personalized outfit too. Later!

Tori:

Take care of stuff beforehand? Nito-senpai, what kind of lecture do you plan on giving?

All I was asked to do was bring you over to the student council room, but I didn’t hear anything else about what’s going on.

Nazuna:

Mmm. I was asked to talk about balancing higher education with idol work. I planned to talk about the journey I took to arrive at where I am today.

Tori:

The journey? So you’re gonna speak from personal experience?

Nazuna:

Yeah. Like about how I used to be part of Valkyrie, but now I’m a member of Ra*bits.

I feel like I’ve got experience with a lot of different things, compared to the idols at ES.

There might be a couple of people who’d say I took the long way to get to where I am today. But I truly believe everything I went through was worthwhile, and relevant.

There’s no one answer in life; everyone’s different.

If there’s anyone out there worrying over what path to take, I want to let them know that there’s more than one way to go about things.

Nazuna:

“... At university, there are all kinds of people who see things from outside the perspective of an idol.

By spending time with them and exchanging our opinions, my outlook on life has broadened, and the options available to me have expanded.

But it’s not as if I never hesitated about taking on a different path than everyone else.”

(... Oh, there’s Tomo-chin! And Hajime-chin and Mitsuru-chin beside him. Looks like everyone’s giving me their full attention.

A different path… If I’d never met those three, I may not have even pursued becoming an idol anymore.

When we first met, they were as feeble as little bunnies, quivering in the corners of Yumenosaki.

But Ra*bits nowadays are different. Everyone’s growing up, and they’ve all got powerful weapons in their arsenal other than cuteness alone!

Even amongst the many veterans of Rhythm Link, we’ve become a unit well able to hold our own.

And even while I was taking some time away, those three put everything they had into keeping Ra*bits safe and sound. They put their faith in me and waited dutifully for me to come back.

It was the same at Yumenosaki and over at ES. You guys were always the ones supporting me.

But… I’m the oldest here. I’m your Nii-chan, so I wanna be the one to pave the way for you to go forth.

And that’s why I’ve got to try harder than I ever have before, as Nazuna Nito, proud member of Ra*bits!

Ah… Mika-chin’s here too. Right, he’s a third year after all.

A lot may have happened with Valkyrie, but it’s thanks to my time with them that I built up the skills I needed to become an idol. That’s a fact I can’t deny.

The whole reason I was able to stand in front of those three and lead the way, was all thanks to my experience with Valkyrie.

Not all of my memories of Yumenosaki are good. I’ve been through some rough patches too. I know what it’s like to feel pain.

But every single experience I’ve lived through has made me who I am today. And I wouldn’t be that person if it weren’t for everything that happened.

All of the memories we made here, good and bad, are as precious to me as diamonds.)

“... Still, I really don’t think there’s any need to overthink things. It’s not as if someone’s gonna hit the reset button on all of the experiences you’ve gone through so far.

If you’re worried about what to make of your future, don’t forget that you’ve got the option of going to college for the time being. Get yourself some marketable skills, just in case. Haha, just kidding!

I’ve come to find college as a place for me to take temporary roost, but it’s also opened up my outlook on life. And it helped me feel more certain than ever about my decision to pursue a career as an idol.

Hold everything you learn at Yumenosaki dear to your heart. And if you can take a step forward in a direction that you yourself are happy withwell, that’s all I ask for.

Thanks for listening, everyone!”

Location: Yumenosaki grounds

… There they are! Hey, over here!

Tomoya:

Great job today, Nii-chan! Your lecture was amazing!

Hajime:

It reminded me of the time we first met you. *Sniff*…

Nazuna:

Don’t cry, Hajime-chin. You’re a man, aren’t you?

Mitsuru:

Nii-chan, Nii-chan! I kept my promise to you!

I stayed awake through the whole thing! And I understood everything you were talkin’ about!

Even though most lectures I’ve had to sit through may as well have been in a foreign language ‘cause I didn’t understand a word. But I got everything today!

Nazuna:

Wow, looks like you’re all grown up. You’re a second year now, after all. Great job, I’m proud of you!

(Ah, Mika-chin’s standing over there at the edge of the hallway… We made eye contact!

I’ll try waving at him… Hey there!

… Haha, he waved back!

I can’t say things ended 100% peacefully with Valkyrie. But at least Mika-chin’s started calling me Nazuna-nii again.

We both have scars from what happened, and it’s not as if we can just lick them better. No, things can never go back to how they used to be… But even so...

Mika-chin… And Itsuki. I truly do wish Valkyrie all the best, from the bottom of my heart.)

… Hm? Oh, it’s you, Anzu.

Were you listening to my speech? Ahaha. I had a birds-eye view from up on stage.

You came at exactly the right time! I thought of something for my personalized outfit while I was giving my speech. I wanted to talk to you about it while it’s on my mind.

What do you think of “guide” for the theme?

I wanna be the kind of guy who welcomes newcomers to the world of idols. It’d be great if you could make an outfit based around that theme.

Hajime:

Wow… That’s a great idea! It sounds perfect for you, Nii-chan!

Tomoya:

Yeah. You were the one who became our gateway into the world of idols too.

Mitsuru:

So this means Nii-chan’s gonna have a personalized outfit?

Yahoo! Now there’s just one of us left to go before all of Ra*bits have a personalized outfit!

Anzu-neechan, think you can hurry up and make Hajime-chan’s personalized outfit too? I’m so excited!

Hajime:

Mitsuru! There’s no need to be in such a rush, okay?

Anzu-san, don’t be afraid to leave me ‘til the very last, okay?

Nazuna:

You’re as modest as ever, Hajime-chin. That’s one of the great things about you.

Nazuna:

… Just like I said during my speech, I’ve experienced a couple of kinds of worlds that different people live in, and they’re all precious to me.

The guy you see standing before you here today; he wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for everything he’s been through.

And that’s why… If you ever come across any of your juniors worrying over which path they should take, I want you to teach them that it’s okay not to focus solely on one.

I wanna show them that it’s okay to go after everything you want.

I’m proof of all that working out! The path I chose to take just might end up inspiring hope in others who’re worrying about which way to go. I’ll be their signpost; their guide!

But whatever you do, don’t just hold back and wait. If you keep trudging along with your eyes cast downwards, you’ll never see the light of the stars above.

So I’ve got to give it my all to make sure the path before all of you is lit up and calling out. That’s my duty as an idol.

“You’re not alone! You’ve got people on your side! You’ve got ME on your side!” That’s the message I want to preach! Take all of that and turn it into a wonderful outfit for me to wear on stage, Anzu!

Whoa, those little trinkets over there look like they’d really suit the kids in Ra*bits! I feel like every time I come here, this place has new merch in, huh!

If you subscribe to their mail magazine, you’ll get a notification every time they get new stock in apparently... you think I should sign up?

Kuro:

Hey, Nito.

Nazuna:

What’s up, Kuro-chin? You look a little agitated?

Oh, am I making too much of a fuss over here? Sorry, I got kinda carried away.

I’m supposed to be helping you shop, but I got distracted by looking out for things for myself.

Kuro:

Nah, I’m just glad you’re enjoyin’ yerself. You’re really havin’ the time of yer life in a place like this.

As for me, I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb, so I’m not real sure what to do with myself.

That shop assistant’s been glarin’ at me like I’m somethin’ nasty ever since I stepped foot inside here, and if looks could kill... Ya don’t think she’s gonna call the cops on me, do ya?

Nazuna:

Mmm, nah. You’re not doing anything wrong, so she’s got no reason to.

I was a little embarrassed about entering a shop like this too at first. I’m a guy too, after all! Rei-chin was with me at the time, and he seemed to feel the same.

Feels like you’ve gotta have someone with you every time you pop by this place. It’s kinda hard for a guy to come in all by himself, huh?

Kuro:

You’d be just fine just by yerself, Nito. Anyone seein’ ya for the first time would think you’re cuter than any ordinary girl.

That’s why I asked ya to come with me in the first place.

... Ya come here a lot, don’t ya? Any idea what kinda stuff would put a smile on a girl’s face?

Nazuna:

Hmm... Can’t say I have. That’s kinda vague.

By the way, Kuro-chin. After you hurried over to me all panicked-looking and begged me to come with you to the girliest shop in town, it’s not like I would’ve turned you down, but...

Who on earth are you buying a present for in the first place?

Kuro:

Ah, right. It’s not just any girl I’m hopin’ to buy forit’s my little sis.

I’ve been so busy recently with Akatsuki-related work on top of club activities, that I completely neglected a promise I made to spend time with her.

I’ve sent her about a dozen apology texts, and even gotten down on my knees to grovel in front of her bedroom door, but she ain’t havin’ it. Won’t even let me in her room no more.

Got a message from her a little earlier sayin’ she isn’t gonna talk to me for three whole days, and my blood just about ran cold.

It’s only been one day so far, but I already feel like someone’s taken a sword and stabbed me at least once in every part of my body.

Nito. I know it’s pathetic, but I’m countin’ on ya. I’m beggin’ ya to help me out here.

Nazuna:

Ku-Kuro-chin?! There’s no need to bow your head that low!

We’re pals, you and me! If anything, I’m glad you trust me enough to help you out in the first place!

You really love your little sis huh, Kuro-chin! Still, three days is hardly all that long, isn’t it? Wouldn’t most people threaten at least a week?

Kuro:

Yeah, well, three days is about the most I could handle, and she knows that much. If I had to go a whole week without a word from my little sis, well... I’d just about lose the will to live. I’d turn into a corpse of a man.

Nazuna:

Hmm. So it’s not like she’s genuinely mad at you, if she’s taking that into consideration.

But she’s probably mad about more or less being stood up, so I guess she just kinda wants to let you stew for a bit.

Hmm... Still, Kuro-chin, I feel like you’d know your little sister way better than I ever could.

Can you think of anything she likes to collect or anything she’s particularly into? That’d help a lot!

Kuro:

That’s a tough one... I don’t think she’s into the sorta stuff most girls are into.

Somethin’ she’s into, huh... I s’ppose she likes stuffed animals. She’s got a teddy bear named Scarlett O’Hara and all.

Nazuna:

Then why don’t you get her a stuffed animal?

Look, there’s a whole bunch of ‘em lined up in those shelves over there! You’re bound to find at least one that she’d like!

Kuro:

Yeah, there’s pigs and pandas and all sorts... Hm? They’ve even got tanukis. Don’t really see what any of these guys have in common. S’ppose anything’ll make the cut so long as it’s cute, huh?

Here’s a capybara, and a... wild boar? Nah, the label says it’s a baby boar. Come to think of it, my little sis and I watched a documentary a while back about the life of wild boars.

She got all excited about the way the little ones would follow behind their mother real close. Kept squealin’ about how cute it was.

Nito, I think I’m gonna go with this for her present. Granted, she may just accuse me of tryin’ to suck up to her to win her over, but it’s better than nothin’.

Nazuna:

Yeah. I think she’ll like it!

I was thinking about picking up some stuff that’d suit the kids back in Ra*bits while I’m here. Think you could keep me company, Kuro-chin?

Kuro:

I was the one who asked ya to tag along with me in the first place, so no complaints here.

Ah... Right now, she’s still little like a baby boar herself, but one day she’s gonna grow up too.

And all I can do until then is keep watch over her.

Ain’t nothin’ in this world that puts a smile on my face more than the thought of lookin’ after my little sis!

Hey! Are you sure we don’t have to change first? If we’re gonna be rollin’ around on the floor, then I’d prefer to wear somethin’ easier to move around in!

Kuro:

Ya won’t be rollin’ around anywhere, Tenma. Well, I s’ppose ya might be better off gettin’ changed, but for now just zip it and listen to the instructions.

To be blunt with you lot, the only reason we’re holdin’ this class is ‘cause of orders from the school. Not like we had a real choice in the matter...

There ain’t all that much ya can learn in a single class.

Not like whatever ya pick up in a one-off get together like this’ll be of any use to ya.

If anythin’, what I want ya takin’ away from today’s lesson is: should ya end up gettin’ involved with someone violent or somethin’, you'd best be makin’ a run for it as fast as yer legs can carry ya. Scream for help loud as ya can while yer at it. You’d end up in a far worse situation tryin’ to get into a scuffle with someone if all you’ve got up yer sleeves are a few half-assed karate moves.

You’re all idols, after all. Ain’t no good t’ be goin’ and gettin’ into fights.

Well, I suppose we can pass on a few tips about what t’ do if anyone ever comes after ya with a knife or somethin’. That’s the sorta know-how we’ll be demonstratin’ today.

Mika:

Sounds good t’ me. Sure sounds like it’ll come in real handy, huh? Oshisan?

Shu:

...

Kuro:

(Crap, this ain’t good... What’s with this lineup? Ra*bits and Valkyrie in the same room? This ain’t gonna end well...

Still, work is work, so I can’t back down now. Why’d so many people sign up for this class anyway?

Here was me thinkin’ barely anyone’s gonna show up. Otherwise I would’ve never agreed to this.

Thought all I’d be doin’ was demonstratin’ a few moves here and there, make a quick buck for the club funds. Thought it’d be a real walk in the park.

I can already feel the headache comin’ on... Alright, let’s get this over with ‘fore someone opens up a real can of worms.

Just havin’ Nito and Itsuki within’ breathin’ distance of each other’s suckin’ all the air right out of this room.

Nito seems to be managin’ just fine, holdin’ it together, but Itsuki over there’s gone pale as a ghost.)

Tetora:

Um, think all of you guys could huddle a little closer together?

The further ya stand apart, the louder Boss is gonna have to yell to get yer attention!

Okay, Itsuki-senpai? Think you could scoot a little closer to Nito-senpai? Maybe so that your shoulders are just touchin’?

Kuro:

(Tetsu! Yer head ain’t screwed on right, boy?!)

Tetsu:

...? What’s up, Boss? Ya seem kinda down in the dumps so far today.

Nazuna:

You okay, Kuro-chin? If you’re worn out, we can just as easily switch this to another day...

Shu:

I-I agree! I believe we should do so, Kiryuu!  It shan’t do for one to wear oneself to a shadow!

Kuro:

Zip it, both of ya. We’re ploughin’ on... Feel like I’m the marriage counselor of a couple goin’ through some kind of divorce, and I ain’t plannin’ on sufferin’ through more than one day of this.

‘Nyway. Run it by me real quick; why’d you lot decide to sign up for this class in the first place?

If you’re seriously feelin’ like somethin’s threatenin’ ya, or gonna ‘cause ya physical harm, I’ll take this as seriously as I can.

Nazuna:

Nah, that’s not it... It’s just that recently we seem to be attracting some pretty strange fans, so I thought it might be best for us to teach ourselves some self-defense, just to be on the safe side.

Heard about a couple of the weirder fans from Mako-chin. And I bet it’s ‘cause all four of us look a little fragile.

I know it’s probably all in jest, but it seems like people are posting online about wanting to kidnap us and stuff.

All of us are small and, well, cute, so I guess we look like easy targets...

There might actually be someone out there deranged enough to get carried away and act on those kinds of thoughts.

The kids started getting a little freaked out, so I signed us up for this self-defense class. For peace of mind more than anything.

Shu:

How utterly deplorable!

I am aware of the existence of such wretched cretins, but I simply cannot fathom their mindset!

Roaches, the lot of them! Pests that time and time again manage to evade the claws of extinction and cling onto dear life!

I, on the other hand, when face to face with something so petite and dear, why! My hand quivers in fear just at the thought of reaching out and making physical contact!

Just being within the same room as creatures so lovely causes my heart to thump! The sight alone enough to satisfy these sore eyes!

Ah, just looking at all of you, angels carved by God himself; exquisite masterpieces blessing all of us with your beauty…

Hajime:

...

Nazuna:

Hey, Itsuki.... Can you cut it out? You’re kinda scaring my kids...

Shu:

What? I’ve taken things too far, have I?

Mika:

... Oshisan, why don’t we call it a day?

Shu:

And why on earth would we do that? You, boy, have collapsed on more than one occasion. Do you not think it is of great importance to familiarize yourself with the basics of martial arts, lest you find yourself caught up in an undesirable situation?

Mika:

Mmm. Nah, it’ll be fine, Oshisan. Based on on what I’ve heard so far, seems like it’s more important t’ focus on avoidin’ these kindsa situations in the first place, rather than tryin’ t’ stand yer ground.

I’ll just be real careful from here on out.

So let’s just leave already, Oshisan.

Seems like that lot’ve misunderstood yer good intentions, kind as ya are, Oshisan. We ain’t got no place here with a buncha kids shakin’ like leaves; they’ve made that much clear.

Nazuna:

Kagehira... Um, I didn’t mean I wanted you guys to leave...

Mika:

... Gotcha. Might be rude of us to take off half-way through the class, but since we’ve already paid the fees in advance, there shouldn’t be no problem, right?

Let’s go, Oshisan.

Shu:

M-Mhm! My apologies, Kiryuu. Please, carry on. No need to pay any mind to the two of us.

We shall take our leave. Well then, until our paths meet again.

Kuro:

... Think that was for the better, Nito?

Not really too keen on bein’ the one to butt in when it comes to this kinda thing. Appreciate if you’d do somethin’ about it sooner rather than later, or at least so long as it’s before it’s time for all of us to graduate.

Right now yer just reapin’ what ya sowed.

Nazuna:

Yeah... I know. I’ve got to sort things out, especially with Kagehira.

Itsuki and I might be graduating, but Kagehira will be staying behind at Yumenosaki with the kids from Ra*bits.

Valkyrie and I have our history, but I can’t let what started with us be handed down to the next generation.

I want everyone to get along, if that’s even possible! They’re all my precious little brothers after all; Tomoya-chin, Hajime-chin, Mitsuru-chinand Kagehira.

Tori’s Substory

姫君のご機嫌

As No-Tori-ously Haughty As Ever

Writer: Akira

Season: Summer

Tori:

Mm… Mmm… Urgh…

Izumi:

Hm? You shouldn’t scrunch up your face like that, Momo-kun. You look like a widdle rat.

Tori:

How dare you! I’m no rodent; I have the most beautiful, lovely, angelic face in the whole world, and that’s a fact!

I mean, never mind that. I wanna ask you about something, Sena-senpai!

Izumi:

Oho? Sure. You’re always letting me grouch to you about whatever’s bugging me.

But hold on just a sec.

First, I have a very important duty at hand: making sure Yuu-kun’s towel is washed as thoroughly as possible, until it’s as soft and fluffy and sparkling white as it was when he first bought it!

Tori:

Ugh, could you not? That’s gotta be some sort of violation! What’ll happen to me when it’s found out one of my tennis club seniors ended up with a prison sentence? This could end up on my track record!

Izumi:

What are you on about? I’m not violating anything.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an older brother making sure his little brother has a nice, clean towel to use. And on the off chance it is a violation, then there’s something wrong with the laws of this country.

Tori:

How can you say something so creepy and be so serious about it at the same time? I don’t get you at all! You’re scaring me!

Besides, that four-eyes isn’t even your real little brother in the first place. Right?

Tossing a stranger's towel into the washing machine may not be a violation of the law, but it sure feels like a violation of something! Just ‘cause something’s legal doesn’t make it okay!

Izumi:

Don’t be silly; I’d never toss Yuu-kun’s towel carelessly into a washing machine. I’ll wash every inch of that towel by hand, with as much tender loving care as an older brother should.

Tori:

Somebody save me! He’s freaking me out! You’re downright unhinged, Sena-senpai! I feel like I need some sort of restraining order!

Nazuna:

Hey! What’re you two makin’ such a fuss about?

You’ve clearly got energy to burn, so go take a lap around the court. Both of you could use the workout!

We got our butts handed to us in that practice match we just had. Boy, our club advisor sure let me have it.

Yumenosaki may prioritize idol activities first and foremost, but that doesn’t mean we can slack off when it comes to club stuff.

Well, I guess Izumi-chin’s still a beginner and there’s not much that can be done about that.

We used to be pretty renowned, y’know. Our tennis club, I mean. That’s why we get one of the few clubrooms available all to ourselves.

But if we keep piling up losses like this, some other club’s gonna take over this place.

Izumi:

No, that can’t happen! This room belongs to me and Yuu-kun; it’s our little love nest…

Besides, weren’t you the one who lost the match, Nazunyan? You’re one to talk, after you abandoned me and paired up with Yuu-kun without so much as a glance back!

Nazuna:

Nah, Mako-chin made it pretty clear he didn’t wanna pair up with you.

Both of you guys’ play styles clash too much, and you just keep getting in each other’s way. You’re not exactly cut out for doubles in the first place.

I let you guys pair up during practice ‘cause you’d never let me hear the end of it otherwise, Izumi-chin. But there’s only so much I can let you get away with before things start to get messy.

Mako-chin starts shrinking away from you outta fear, and you barely pay attention to the ball ‘cause you’re too busy gazing at Mako-chin’s face the whole time.

Come to think of it, you guys both might be better off playing singles from now on. Momo-chin can partner up with me for doubles!

Tori:

Mm... No, I don’t wanna partner up with someone as cute as me. I won’t be able to stand out as much.

I wanna be the only cute one, me! I don’t want you stealing the spotlight, Captain.

Nazuna:

Quit it with the “cute, cute!”...

Fine, we’ll all just do singles. Both of you guys have such huge egos, I feel like no matter who I pair you up with it’s not gonna end well.

And Mako-chin’s still reluctant to really open up that much to any of us... Y’know, sometimes I really don’t understand how you guys handle being part of a unit in the first place. Boy, I feel sorry for all of your unitmates who’ve gotta put up with all this me, me, me behavior.

Tori:

Heheh, it can get lonely at the top!

Izumi:

If you’re going to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for me! Not a single member of Knights listens to a word I say!

Makoto:

Uh... Izumi-san? Do you think I could get my towel back?

I wanna get changed and gather up all my stuff as fast as I can, so I can scoot on over to practice with the rest of Trickstar...

Izumi:

What? But after we finished reviewing the match we just played we were going to go straight into more practice, weren’t we?

Then at the end of the day, the two of us can walk home, hand in hand, all the while gazing up at the warm orange tinge of the setting sun...

Tori:

Stop being creepy. Can you even distinguish between reality and the weird fantasies inside your own head at this point? Clearly not if that look in your eyes is anything to go by!

Nazuna:

Oh yeah, Mako-chin already let me know he’d have to leave halfway through to meet up with Trickstar. You guys have got a DreamFest coming up soon, right? Good luck!

Makoto:

Yeah! Of course I wanna practice tennis too, but

I feel like I’m still dragging everyone in Trickstar down, so I’d prefer to prioritize them at the moment.

Izumi:

Yuu-kun, if you’re worried about your progress, I’d be happy to tutor you.

Makoto:

So anyway, I’d best be on my way overto make sure I get there on time! ... Izumi-san, please just give me my towel back already.

Tori:

Sena-senpai, there’s this really tough song I’m trying to go over. Help me out here, seeing as you’re so free!

Makoto:

Yes! Let him teach you all he knows, Himemiya-kun! Izumi-san’s a great teacher!

Tori:

Who said you could butt in? Bugger on off onto your dance practice, would you?

Izumi:

Now look here!

Momo-kun, that’s not any way to speak to Yuu-kun! You need to be more gentle and tender with your words, like—like the way you’d talk to a newborn baby!

Tori:

No way. Besides, Trickstar is the enemy.

I may have lost to you at DDD by some fluke, but anyone can see that I’m superior to you in every way, got it? So don’t you dare let it get to your head!

Makoto:

No, I agree. That’s why I’m doing all this extra practice... You’re only a first year, Himemiya-kun, but you already excel at so many things. You have my respect!

Tori:

H-Hmph! As long as you’ve got it through your head!

Izumi:

You’re wonderful too, Yuu-kun! Be more confident! Though you’ve still got a long, long, long… Long way to go as an idol. Come on, hurry up and catch up to your big bro!

The two of us should walk home together, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand

Nazuna:

And back to tennis practice for you, Izumi-chin! You’ve had plenty of time to cool off, so let’s hop on over to the tennis court. You too, Momo-chin!

Tori:

Yeah... Urgh, I hate losing! I’m so mad...

I’m gonna practice and practice and make it so those losers who made me taste defeat all bow down before me!

Izumi:

Haha. I thought you seemed in a bad mood today. Yeah, losing is infuriating; no wonder you’re sulking.

Well, I suppose I better put some work in myself. I only joined this tennis club because of Yuu-kun, but it’s actually gotten kind of enjoyable lately...

Nazuna:

That’s the spirit! Let’s all jump to it! Mako-chin, if you’ve still got some time after you’re done with your lesson, come on back over here, ‘kay?

We can go over today’s match while we grab dinner together.

Makoto:

Got it! Alright, I’m gonna head on over to my lesson! See you guys later!

Nazuna:

Good work today! … That guy’s smile has gotten a whole lot brighter recently.

Izumi:

You see it too? Yeah, Yuu-kun is really making the most of his youth.

Tori:

He’s just full of himself ‘cause he won against us—which did NOT count, by the way!

... Urgh, I’m still mad! I wanna get better already and make all those guys as cocky as him grovel at my feet!

Nazuna:

Right, and persistence is the best recipe for success! Let’s get down to it, Momo-chin!

Tori:

You got it! Let’s go, Yumenosaki Tennis Club!

(Eheheh. I only joined this club ‘cause of the rule about mandatory extracurricular activities… And I only went with the tennis club ‘cause I happen to have some experience there.

But recently… It’s actually turned out to be more fun than I thought.)

Tomoya Idol Story 2

Location: Rhythm Link office

Writer: 結城由乃 (Yuuki Yoshino)

Season: Summer

Proofreaders: Ren, Lulu

Nazuna:

......

(Ugh... I’m kinda nervous about seeing those guys again. Wait, it’s not like I haven’t seen them at all since I graduated, but still.)

(I’ve taken a break from all idol activity for the time being. So I feel kinda awkward about seeing those kids when they’re putting their all into idol work.)

(But it’s not like I can just stand in front of the agency forever!)

Good morning! My name is Nazuna Nito. I’ve got an appointment with the members of Ra*bits here at the agency—

Tomoya:

Huh? Nii~chan? Why are you just standing in front of the door like that?

Nazuna:

Nghh?! T-Tomo-chin?! Whaddre you doin’ beyind me?!

Tomoya:

Oh, I just went to use the restroom. When I saw you on my way back, I just ran over without thinking.

Besides... Ha-ha, you’re a member of Ra*bits too, Nii~chan. You don’t need to formally introduce yourself or anythingjust come on in!

Nazuna:

I can’t help it. I’m still not used to ES at all.

Tomoya:

Don’t worry about it. There’s plenty of stuff we’re not used to either. A little while back, I accidentally arrived at ES still wearing my uniform.

Oh, oops. If we just stand around here talking, Mitsuru and Hajime will be mad that we didn’t call them over too.

Hey! Mitsuru, Hajime! We’ve got a special guest here to see us.

Mitsuru:

Oh, it’s Nii~chan! Nii~chan, Nii~chan, Nii~chaaaaaan!

Nazuna:

Whoa there, Mitsuru-chin, don’t dash over here all of a sudden and jump on me like that! If I could catch you it’d be one thing, but I feel like you’ll knock me right over.

Mitsuru:

Sowwy, sowwy! But I’m just so happy to see you, Nii~chan!

Hajime:

Oh, Nii~chan! Hell...I mean, good morning!

Ehehe, it feels a little weird to say good morning when it’s almost noon. Although I suppose it’s more polite in a business setting like this.

Um, I’ll go make some tea.

Nazuna:

Ha-ha, you don’t have to go through any trouble. I’m the one intruding on you guys.

Though, I guess if you’re offering tea, I won’t say no to that.

Mitsuru:

Nii~chan, why’d you call yourself an “intruder”? You’re the most special person to us in the world!

I heard from Tomo-chan that Nii~chan would be working with Ra*bits today too and I’ve been looking forward to it like crazy!

From today on, we’re aaaalways gonna have Nii~chan by our side too!

Tomoya:

Oh no, Nii~chan’s only stepping in to help us out for today.

Mitsuru:

Huh, how come? Nii~chan, you’re not gonna keep working with us from tomorrow on?

Nazuna:

Yeah... I don’t have any classes and I happen to be pretty free, so that’s why I’m helping out with Ra*bits for today. But from tomorrow onwards, I’ll be a college student once again.

Mitsuru:

Huh! Nooo, don’t go back to college! Stay here with Ra*bitswith us!

Tomoya:

Come on, Mitsuru! Don’t be like that, you’ll just upset Nii~chan!

Sorry, Nii~chan! It seems like Mitsuru’s been pretty stressed recently due to work.

Now that you’re here, he wants you to fuss over him.

Nazuna:

What do you mean stressed? Is everything okay?

Tomoya:

Oh, yes. It’s not like he’s being forced to take on job offers against his will. Nii~chan, y’know how Mitsuru’s appearing in a drama?

Nazuna:

Yeah, of course I know!

The role he’s playing is super cool, so I ended up bragging to one of my college friends about him. “I raised that kid, y’know!” It just slipped out!

Tomoya:

Ha-ha, you sound like a dad bragging about his kid.

But yeah, thanks to that drama, Mitsuru’s gaining a lot more fans lately.

And since they became fans of his through watching that drama, they’ve got it into their heads that Mitsuru is this cool, serious guy.

Mitsuru:

Ugh... I’m just the same me I was before though?

When I get fan letters calling me “cool and serious” I’m like, is that really who I am? Is that who I’ve gotta become?

Then my head starts spinnin’ and I end up just like uuuurgh!

Nazuna:

I get it... You wanna do what you can for all of your fans.

But that doesn’t mean you’ve gotta erase what makes you you, Mitsuru-chin.

Even your fans who think of you as this “cool and serious” guyone day they’re gonna understand all the great things about who you really are.

Mitsuru:

Nii~chan... Ehehe, thanks. You made me feel a little better.

Nazuna:

There, there. The Mitsuru onscreen may be cool and mature, but the Mitsuru with his arms wrapped around me right now still feels like a little kid.

Hajime:

Sorry to keep you waiting. I’m back with tea!

Nazuna:

Ah thanks, Hajime-chin. Mitsuru-chin, I wanna drink some tea, so could you let go of me for a bit?

Mitsuru:

Aww... Fine then.

Nii~chan patted my head, so I’m on top of the world! I’ll move out of your way for now! Nyoom~

Hajime:

Ha-ha, it’s still hot, so please wait until it cools down a little before you drink it.

Nazuna:

Got it... *huff huff*

*gulp gulp* ...Ahh! It’s been a while since I last drank your tea, but it’s as delicious as ever! No wait, I feel like it’s even more delicious than before. You’ve improved, Hajime-chin.

Hajime:

Really, you think so? Ehehe, I’m so happy to hear that.

...Wah?! N-Nii~chan? Why did you pat my head just now?

Wait, it’s not that I didn’t like it! You just caught me off-guardI almost dropped the teapot in shock!

Nazuna:

Sorry! I gave Mitsuru a pat on the head too, so it just felt right.

Hajime:

Oh, Mitsuru did say something like that. Ehehe, whenever you pat my head, it’s like an instant serotonin boost, Nii~chan!

Mitsuru:

Right? You should pat Tomo-chan’s head too!

Tomoya:

No, I’m good... Sorry about these two, Nii~chan. They always wanna be fussed over, just like little kids.

Nazuna:

Nah. Seeing you guys haven’t changed really calms me down.

Tomoya:

Ha-ha. Hearing you say that makes me relieved that you entrusted the role of Leader to me, Nii~chan.

I may still have a long way to go to catch up with you. But I’m gonna take everything you taught me and put it into action.

That said, I’m not gonna go as far as patting Mitsuru or Hajime on the head when they’re the same age as me...

Nazuna:

Go for itI’ll be cheering you on the whole way.

You guys aren’t first years anymore. You may have been total newbies who didn’t know a thing about the world of idols oncebut now you’ve become allies I can really trust.

Tomoya:

Of course! We can’t stay cute little baby bunnies forever.

We’ll become even more reliable by the time you’re ready to join us again, Nii~chan. So don’t worry about a thingjust watch over us as we grow!
